What is a centrifugal slurry pump?

June 23, 2015 02:05:18 PM

A centrifugal pump is designed based on the principle of centrifugal force. A rapidly rotating impeller or vane generates the centrifugal force in order to pass kinetic energy to the fluid. Centrifugal pumps can be divided as single suction pump and double suction pump, single stage pump and multistage pump, vertical pump and horizontal pump, etc.

A centrifugal slurry pump is a kind of centrifugal pump which uses the centrifugal force generated by a rotating impeller to impart kinetic energy to the slurry. Centrifugal slurry pumps are mainly used in mining industry where large erosive slurries need to be transferred. Also, other industries including metallurgy, power generation and environmental protection find great applications of slurry pumps.

There are a lot of slurry pump types for pumping slurries. Therefore, the right selection of slurry pump is very important. Impeller size, design for solids passage and appropriate shaft seal possibilities should all be considered. Visit our products or contact our engineer for detailed information.
